How To Write Order-Pulling Online Classified Ads!

By Ken Germann of Kenetrix Technologies

"Free": This is probably the core spirit of the Internet. With so many things you could get for free, the World Wide Web has paved the way for an evolution of multiple forms of empowerment. Online users are always on the lookout for the latest download or for the most efficient service which they could get fast, and which they could get for free.

Internet marketers, of course, are among those in this seeming mad rush for anything free. More specifically, Internet marketers are always on the lookout for channels where they could advertise their business free of charge. They have already discovered and exploited the potentials of forums, article directories, link farms and blogs.

It was only a matter of time before Internet marketers also discovered the innate powers of free classified ads. There are a lot of websites on the Internet offering valuable space where you could place an ad for your business. Yes, they’re free. But there is a problem.

Everyone else will be advertising in those websites! With the number of ads that those websites would run, it would be harder for your potential customers to distinguish your business from the rest.

This problem, of course, is best solved by writing an effective online classified ad that would undoubtedly and immediately win your customers’ interests. This is what we will discuss in this article.

Short But Sweet

The main principle that you should always keep in mind when writing a piece for a classified ad is this: keep it short but sweet.

This means that your ad should be concise enough to include what you want to convey, and attractive enough so that readers would immediately take notice of it. You don’t need long ads. Let us repeat that for emphasis. YOU DON’T NEED LONG ADS. Often, a 3 to 5 sentence long ad performs better than a mini sales page. It’s because people, by nature, refrain from reading a blatant sales pitch. By offering them something short but succinct, you’d be able to tickle their fancy and compel them to click on your link.

Your ad should be very attractive, as it would have to compete for the readers’ attention. You could try wit, most definitely, but the best ads are those which immediately grab the readers’ interest because of a clearly stated benefit. Let’s take a look at an example:

DO YOU WANT TO BE YOUR OWN BOSS AND START EARNING IMMEDIATE PROFIT WITHOUT EVER LEAVING YOUR HOME? Then this is an offer you should dare not miss. No recruiting, no forced selling, and no application fees to join. Simply click on this link to take that first step towards the attainment of your dreams.

The above example is an ad for an affiliate program. It is effective because the benefit was immediately stated, hence, it should instantaneously get the reader interested to find out more about the offer. Additionally, the ad wasn’t long at all. Your readers would have no problem reading it, since such won’t strain their eyes that much.

To Capture Leads And Not To Generate Sales

When writing your ad, also bear in mind that your ultimate purpose is to capture leads and not to generate sales. You simply cannot convince your reader to make a purchase with this medium. The best you could do is to invite the reader into visiting your website.

Of course, it goes without saying that your website should be optimized to convert your new visitors into paying customers.

With classified ads, you will be promoting your business more than your product. You will have to muster enough tactics to make your readers remember what your business is about rather than what you’re selling at the moment. In the long run, this would be what is best for your online enterprise.
